Dear North Star Families,
On behalf of the entire staff, I am delighted to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all of our returning families for the new school year! As I begin my second year as your principal, I am filled with excitement and hope for what the future holds for our school community.
We want to give a very special welcome to our newest and youngest bears, the North Star kindergarten students, and their families. You are now officially part of the North Star family, and we can’t wait to get to know you and watch you grow with us. The start of a new school year is always full of possibility, and we are ready to embark on another journey of learning, discovery, and growth together.
Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare a welcoming and inspiring learning environment for every student. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential for success, and we look forward to working closely with you throughout the year to ensure your child has a wonderful and memorable experience.
As a reminder, for students in Grades 1-5, your child’s first day of school is August 25th. Kindergarten students have a “Split Start”. Kindergarten students with the last names A-L will have their first days on August 25th and 26th (and will not attend school on 8.27 & 8.28) and Kindergarten students with last names beginning with M-Z will start on August 27th and 28th (and will not attend school on 8.25 & 8.26). There is no school on Friday, August 29th and Monday, September 1st in observance of Labor Day, for all students.

assistant principal DR. JOY CAMPBELL
Dr. Campbell currently serves as the Assistant Principal at North Star. She has over twenty years of experience in public education in Delaware. To begin her career, she taught high school German for eleven years, instilling in her students a love for language and cultural diversity. With over a decade of experience in school administration at the secondary level, Dr. Campbell has honed her leadership skills and gained a deep understanding of the educational landscape. Her tenure in administration has been marked by a commitment to creating supportive and collaborative environments where both students and educators can thrive. She values the importance of addressing the needs of the whole child, recognizing that emotional well-being and character development are integral to a child's growth.
